The landscape seen by the yellow stone

This work is based on coverage of a remote island in Kagawa Prefecture. The landscape seen from the small stone underneath the work is drawn on a red paper file with that stone. I thought the yellow stone was rare, and when I took a picture without looking through the viewfinder, I saw the sun shining brightly. The shining sun is often drawn in yellow. Coincidentally, I thought the relationship between stones and the sun was interesting, so I created it.
This work was created for the Setouchi Triennale 2022, but was not exhibited locally due to location reasons.
(This work is hard to remove dust and dirt because the ground is paper files. (An acrylic case or frame is required for long-term displays)

The picture frame that can be provided as soon as possible upon consultation is this picture frame. It is a deep wooden frame with flat glass. Frame size 76 x 56.5 x 3.5 cm

It was created during the COVID-19 pandemic. Large sandpaper was hard to come by. This work was created by taking over sandpaper used from a woodworking workshop. Therefore, there is a scratch on the left side of the screen. There is rubbing all over and on the sides.

It was exhibited at a group exhibition in Nagoya in 2022.

This is a view from the viewpoint of a roadside pebble. That pebble will also be attached to the work. Like drawing with chalk on a blackboard, I'm drawing on red sandpaper with those pebbles. The pebbles on the side of the road literally turn my body into powder, painting the world around me in my own colors and from my point of view. That point of view and that moment of the surroundings are unique. “Roadside stones” are synonymous with “worthless things.” But that value standard is only for use. We are part of nature, but we tend to forget that.

Based on that picture, I will draw a landscape with that stone on sandpaper. Similar to writing with chalk on a blackboard, it is drawn using a stone that can be scraped and sandpaper lines can be drawn.

The production was in the atelier, and the interview was in Teshima, Kagawa Prefecture.

All things and things shape the present. In that moment, we never met again. Moments ahead of the present is the future, and everything in the present shapes the future ahead. No entity can spill out of it.
