Work Details
At a certain night when I walked down the stairs from the railway platform to the gates, I came to realize that the anti-skids of the stairs are glittering.
“It’s the universe…”
The discovery of the twinkling stars on the ground in the countryside impulsively brought to the productions with turns in these years. Plywood, paint, glitter, glues for woodworks…the materials for this new production are all simple thing everyone can easily get handy. While huge works illustrating long distance and longtime were created from them and it simply portrays how fascinating art is.
ある夜、ホームから改札へと駅の階段を降りている時に、滑り止めなのか、ステップがキラキラと輝いているのに気づきました。
「宇宙…」
昔、田舎で見たことのある満天の星を足元に発見すると、それが近年断続的に取り組んでいるロクロを回して制作する手法と頭の中で瞬間的に繋がりました。
合板、塗料、グリッター、木工用ボンド…使用している素材は誰でも簡単に手に入れることができるものばかりです。それらを用いて、とてつもなく大きなものごとや、長い距離・時間を表現できたのなら、それは美術のおもしろさのうちのひとつだと思うのです。

(The Conference on Art and Art Projects) 2000 Kyoto University of Art and Design B.A. 1976 Born in Kobe, Japan よく「作品のアイデアはどこからくるのか？」と聞かれるのですが、それは雷が落ちるように突然やってきます。私の場合、何か他のことに意識がいっている時が多いようです。車を運転している時やテレビでサッカーを見ている時などです。 なぜそうなのか私には分かりませんが、もともと文章から生まれた作品ではないものですから、それを文章化するのが毎回すごく大変です。 とはいえ、期日はやってきます。明るく楽しくつくってみせるのが私の仕事です。 I’m often asked, “Where do the ideas for your work come from?” The answer is that they suddenly strike me, like lightning.In my case, it is often when my focus is onto something else, like when I’m driving a car or watching soccer on TV.I don’t know why it is that way, but since my work doesn’t come out of something you can put into words, it’s quite difficult to verbalize every time.There are, however, always deadlines. What I have to do is to make work brightly and cheerfully.
