Work Details
太古より人間は自分たちの想像を超えた厄災を黒く巨大な生き物に託してきた。地震鯰は最も有名な話の一つである。当時の人々は身近な生き物に恐怖を託すことで厄災との共存を図っていたのかもしれない。
今でも茨城県にある鹿島神宮には地中に潜む鯰を抑えるために要石というものが祀られている。
近年は地震や台風、猛暑など多くの天変地異が増え、今年はコロナウイルスが世界を襲い人々の生活は一変してしまった。それらの災害が原因なのか、地中に潜んでいた黒い生き物たちは鹿島湾沖に姿を現し暴れている。彼らは何を思っているのだろうか？

Artist

Born in Kanagawa in 1993. Graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design Graduate School of Painting. After studying in Beijing, he has been active mainly in Kyoto. Since 2021, he has also been active as a unit “Thumb Princess” with food stall researcher Takanori Shimodera. While using the context and technical materials of Japanese painting, he creates works focusing on history where disasters invisible to people and forces that cannot be resisted have always been regarded as something black. After completing the Kyoto University of Art Graduate School painting department in 2019, he went to Beijing to study abroad. Currently, he lives in Komyoin Temple, the tower of Tofuku-ji Temple, and is engaged in production activities.
