Work Details
「stitch map」は、過去の作品の破片、古布や織物などさまざまな素材を糸で縫い合わせて作っている平面作品です。
もともとは、箱型の立体作品を展開させ、平面に再構成したものでしたが、どこか上空から町を見ているような作品になったので、「stitch map」と名づけました。
町は、人々の営みが重なり合ってできた集合体です。そこには、暮らしの痕跡や時間の層、歴史の積み重なりが、図のように刻まれているようにも感じます。
素材を縫い重ねることで、そのような記憶や風土、生活の手触りが、見る人に、小さな風景が立ち上がってくるような作品になったらいいと思っています。
