“Beginning and Going” #５

For me, drawing is an act of self acquiring the world. I was unable to draw due to an accident and illness, and I felt “finished” as an artist. One day, the changes in the clouds I saw in my hospital room made me notice that “there is no beginning or end,” and I started stippling with my left hand on 100 yen paper. The dots gradually formed a mass and began to expand while acquiring a shape that felt the flow and energy of the atmosphere. I thoughtlessly drew the sky, atmosphere, and clouds, which I couldn't grasp in the first place, over and over again while questioning whether it is possible to model the sky, atmosphere, and clouds from a clean place without falling into conventional “maps.”
