Enigmatic Serenity 4
2025, Kusunoki powder, mineral pigments, white oak, rice brushwork, metal fittings, nylon thread, 24 x 12 x 16 cm
The concept of the work
“Deep and quiet feeling” It is a single wooden sculpture from the pedestal to the top. The organic rhythm carved out while interacting with the solid logs of camphor is reminiscent of the energy (chain) of life moving from earth to heaven. While maintaining the warmth of wood, it has a firm presence as an architectural “pillar” that supports the space. It means fun. It is a poetic piece composed of a complex composition of different woods such as camphor, white oak, and rice brushwood, as well as artificial materials such as metal fittings and nylon thread. The fusion of traditional surface treatment with powder and mineral pigments and the physical “tension (tension)” brought about by thread is extremely fibrous in space It creates fine balance and brings a sense of serenity (serenity) to the viewer.

Artist
Sculptor
I am exploring a sculptural approach based on material selection and physical actions, drawing on memories of natural landscapes from my childhood, Japan’s syncretic culture, and my experience of living in Germany for about six and a half years. Through this, I am deepening my interpretation of the forms and structures of nature, as well as natural and cultural diversity, while pursuing “the beauty of harmony in which heterogeneous elements coexist.”
