Work Details

They tried to get involved in stone using the act of “firing” as an intermediary.

I recognize that so-called ceramic firing is a method of involvement in firing clay, melting and fixing the glaze, etc., to launch it as an object.

I think my act of “firing” this time is a method that allows matter to directly interact with the earth in a kiln. This is because matter softens at high temperatures, succumbs to the gravity it has endured, and is unable to maintain its shape

When stone is fired, it becomes impossible to maintain the behavior of the stone. It distorts like clay, and transforms into a substance that cannot be called stone at all.

Born in 1998 in Bizen-shi, Okayama-ken. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University of Art and Design, majoring in sculpture in 2020. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture in 2023.Born in the Bizen ware production area in Okayama prefecture. I am interested in the relationship between people and land rather than the experience of growing up close to the relationship between traditional crafts and land from an early age. It is created on the theme of existence, time, and location inherent in matter, based on how matter changes underground and in kilns. In recent years, they have thought that the production process of Bizen ware itself would be an act of carving related to location, and they are trying to explore the relationship between themselves and place by converting processes such as digging, kneading, and baking soil into sculpture.“Plants and containers” (Blend studio 2021) is the main exhibition. “Re-Sculpt” (Manazuru Tourism Association Former Dried Fish Factory 2022). “Nobeoka Tokai Saruku 2022 Artist in Residence” (River Pal Gokasegawa 2022). “Favorite Forms Exhibition” (Gallery Suki 2023). “Refill the air/replace the air” (Tokyo Zokei University 2023). “Ceramic Synergy Exhibition” (Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art 2023)Major awards include 2022 15th Okayama Prefecture Emerging Artist Development “Mr. I Award” Encouragement Award, 2023 Tokyo University of the Arts Completion Exhibition Teikyo University Purchase Award, 2023 Ceramic Synergy Exhibition Akimoto Yuji Award, and 2024 KAIKA TOKYO AWARD 2024
