Concept and explanation of the work

The underlying theme of my work is “connection with others.” The “others” referred to here are not limited in time or region. People from the past, people from the future who will be born in the future, and people living in places so far away that they may never pass each other for the rest of their lives. The fact that I'm actually connected to people I don't have any relationships with at first glance, or rather, I'm creating something like that in the form of a work, and I think it would be nice if I could convey it to people who see the work. I think this work strongly reflects that feeling of “connection.”

The characters I draw are basically expressed as “no one exists = everyone exists.” Branches grow like horns from her and break through the cloth. A white string is tied to the branch, and a red thread is tied to it.

Thoughts put into the title

The title “Liminal” is the front and back of a coin, and I chose this title as a word to express such meaning, assuming that there was a “gap” that was not supposed to exist there originally. The theme of this work is the connection between people and nature.

The title includes the idea that “space” between humans and nature exists in terms of words and concepts, but in reality, there is no such period, and we and nature are inextricably connected from the beginning.

About the production location (atelier)

I rent a private house close to my home and use it as an atelier.

Born in 1987 in Kobe, Hyogo. Currently living in the same city. Production activities began around 2015, and two-dimensional character paintings using pixel expressions were presented in 2021. I signed a contract with a Taiwanese gallery and have exhibited many overseas, mainly in East Asia, with that style until now. The contract was terminated in 2025. Taking that opportunity, production activities are being carried out even more vigorously.
