Work Details
人は人それぞれに、苦しくてしんどくて落ち込んだ過去があるのかもしれません。
抜け出してみると、その経験が有難いものだったと思えるけれど、
その渦中にいる人に「意味のないことは起こらないから大丈夫だよ」と伝えられるでしょうか。
それが万人に当てはまると言えるでしょうか。
その人の世界の真実も、正解も、その人のものなのだとしたら、
自分の言葉で誰かを励ますこともできるし、
同じ言葉で傷つく人もいる。
誰かを元気づけたいと思った時、いつもそこで葛藤します。
それならば、黙って寄り添って、
少しでもあたたかな気持ちになれるよう
抱きしめられる権利が欲しいなと思いました。
そんな大層なことが絵で表現できるだろうか、そんな思いで描きました。

Artist/Painter/Japan It gives shape to a life of “being there.” Mao Ando/Mao Ando I draw abstract paintings with “disentangling existence” as the main concept. The sense of longevity obtained from a deep sea-like world within oneself is expressed through lines, dots, colors, and shapes. I create while questioning every day what kind of ways it is possible to “dismiss” beings beyond words, ages, titles, etc.
