夏、人は海に入ります。
海に入ると息が出来ないけれど、それでも海に入ります。
人間にとって海の中は生きていくことのできない未知の世界で、
そんな世界が目に見えて近くにあることがとても素晴らしく、
そして畏れ多いことのように思います。
陸と海の境界が曖昧になる夏に、
祖先の霊を祀ったお盆に、
色々な境界が曖昧になっていることに心が躍りました。
陸と海、あの世とこの世、男と女、あなたとわたし、
色々な境界線が曖昧になって溶け合う時、
もっと大きな愛を感じられるのではないか。
その愛おしさと尊さと美しさに想いを馳せまして。

Artist/Painter/Japan It gives shape to a life of “being there.” Mao Ando/Mao Ando I draw abstract paintings with “disentangling existence” as the main concept. The sense of longevity obtained from a deep sea-like world within oneself is expressed through lines, dots, colors, and shapes. I create while questioning every day what kind of ways it is possible to “dismiss” beings beyond words, ages, titles, etc.
