猿島なのに存在しない「猿」が光と紐によって視覚化されています。
紐はランダムに張られているように見えますが、光の当たっている場所だけが猿の形になっています。光が少しでも前後にズレると猿の形は崩れて見えなくなります。一本一本の紐は猿島の逸話を生成する要素で、それらが時間をかけて、徐々に導かれるように猿島の逸話ができていく構成になっています。
この猿は、以前実際にこの島にあった「春日神社」に設置されていた狛犬ならぬ「狛猿」がモチーフになっています。この狛猿は今も横須賀市内にある「春日神社」で見ることができますので、興味のある方はのぞいてみてください。

1984年生。 Born in 1984. 古くから存在する手法やメディアと現代のテクノロジーを掛け合わせ、目に見えない事象や関係性を捉える造形制作やインスタレーションを行う。代表作の「toki-」シリーズはアルスエレクトロニカやSXSW Art Programなど国内外で展開している。 Creates object artworks and installations that capture invisible instances or relationships of things, by combining conventional methods together with modern media technologies. One of Goto’s representative work, “toki- ” has been showcased at both domestic and international events such as Ars Electronica and SXSW Art Program.
