「永久廃棄目録」で用いられている廃材は、 作家の知人の生家で長い時間をかけて堆積していったものである。 ものが溢れることで直面する困難に対して、 その状況への対処を制作のプロセスとし、現状のささやかな治癒を目指す。室内に響く独白は、 その状況に至るまでの経緯の説明から始まり、 私的な問題から社会における所有の困難やストレスにまつわる言説を、 複数の異なる視点から語り続ける。久保田は自身の置かれている状況や環境にもたれかかることを制作の動機とし、 その作品は会期という時間によって切り取られた一時的な姿である。

Waste materials used in Perpetual Inventory of Waste had been accumulated over an extensive period of time in a house where an acquaintance of the artist’s was born and raised. In confronting the obstacles that accompany an overflow of material goods, the artist takes the coping process with such situation as the making process of the artwork, with an aim to offer a humble healing for the ongoing conditions.

The monologue that echoes in the exhibition space starts with an explanation of the context in which this particular circumstance came about, consequently leading to a multi-dimensional discourse around the subject of personal struggles related to, and societal issues and stress surrounding the possession of material goods.

Kubota is motivated by his own susceptibility to situations and environments in which he finds himself, and perceives his artworks as an ephemeral form determined by the timeframe of an exhibition.
