Work Details

Title: That person said that monsters gather during wisteria season

The concept of the work

Something like a creature holding it in your hand, like a bird on your shoulder, like a monkey.

They exist as if they were visible to the eye; in fact, they are not there.

Something has changed its appearance and is snuggling up to you in the painting.

I engraved the old saying “God dwells in everything in the universe (or one tree, one grass)” on my chest,

Believing that there are 8 million gods living in nature, this work was born.

Patterns drawn on clothes are “records” to unravel one's own identity.

They will begin by playing their own unique rhythm in the painting.

Artwork Details

Her (his) expression is invisible in wisteria flowers.
It's about how to decipher facial expressions according to the viewer's feelings.
From time to time, her (his) expression will probably be calm or sad.

First place the color you feel on the white canvas, then fill it with large white.
Wipe it off again, and then repeat.

The composition is decided from incidental shapes that can be seen from there.

The canvas plays a role in making it easier to move lines when drawing detailed parts by layering gesso many times for a smooth finish.

The time it took to produce

Thoughts put into the work and title

The work makes you feel something you can't see, and it's a quiet and reassuring work.

Yoyo-YOSHI

Painting artist

Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Oil Painting, Tokyo.

After working as a game character designer for several years,
She heads to France where she studies art for three years.
In France, she began drawing creatures that appeared in his dreams.

Those creatures she would also be influenced by in her game creation
These become some of the themes she still explores today.
She moved to Tokyo, New Zealand, and France, where she continued to pursue art as she felt.

Why do people create things that cannot be seen?
why do you feel the soul

When she think about it, her hand moves and it becomes something's soul.

She is currently creating works based on her "animism" at her atelier in Kamakura Japan.
