奔放自在な画風で日本の油彩画を確立した画家・梅原龍三郎のアトリエを東京新宿より移築したもので、設計は数寄屋造りや旧歌舞伎座の建築で有名な吉田五十八氏。梅原氏が好んだ紅殻色の京壁や床間などを取り入れた24畳のアトリエには、使用していたイーゼルやパレット、絵具箱のほか、製作途中の絵画なども含め、梅原龍三郎の愛用品から作品までが展示されています。
Ryuzaburo Umehara (1888-1986) is a Western-style Japanese painter. Japanese architect, Isoya Yoshida designed this studio-house. The painter’s belongings such as paints, brushes and his favorite easel are stored and exhibited in the atelier. | Relocated in April, 1989.

建築家。 昭和期に活躍し、和風の意匠である数寄屋建築を独自に近代化した建築家である。東京生まれ。東京美術学校（東京芸術大学）卒業。母校で教壇に立ち、多くの後進を育てる。死後、その功績を記念して、吉田五十八賞が設けられた。
