Work Details
The “Garden” series is completed by drawing an imaginary garden and arranging paint fragments like a miniature garden.
This “Garden 23” (produced in 2026) combines soft shapes and overlapping colors with various paint textures. I drew it with the pleasure of looking at various places. We hope you can find your favorite places.
The colors are also a work full of freshness. Please enjoy the coming season.
A garden is a very small personal unit within the scale of a landscape. However, even though the gardens and dry landscape are on a small scale, they are on a scale that can be freely viewed and imagined.
Also, when I was overwhelmed by the scale and size of works by foreign artists, I began creating works on a personal scale by drawing in a small domestic atelier, thinking about life and the scale of life.
It is a square panel, and the work is about 5 cm thick.
Although it is a painting, you can see it all the way to the side, so you can appreciate it as if it were a three-dimensional object.
Matsumura Saki makes full use of spraywork, silkscreen, thick paint, etc., to create paintings with mixed colors, shapes, and textures.
In recent years, in particular, through the theme of “landscape,” I have come to be aware of my original landscape and physical senses. My original landscape is Nozawa Onsen Village in Nagano Prefecture, a snowy mountain village with a ski resort. The life and topography of satoyama, life in heavy snowfall, and skiing experiences have a fundamental impact on the work as a landscape that I remember along with my experience.
In the work, we aim to create effects that make viewers experience it, with textures that appeal to touch, strong colors, and structures that superimpose diverse spaces and perspectives.
