Lots of little laughter.

I followed that sound, and when I was drawing, I arrived at this title before I knew it.

Hamada Takashi

A painter who draws sound

Born in 1990 in Kumamoto. Lives and works in Kumamoto. When I was in the 6th grade of elementary school, I fell over in the sun while playing tag, and when I passed out, I gradually began to have synesthesia to perceive sound as color and form.Since then, based on Hamada's unique sense, the sound has been changed to color, and he has continued to create mainly abstract paintings that emphasize that the sense of sound reaches the viewer through the screen. They are interested not only in human voices, but also in natural sounds such as the sound of rivers, seas, and bamboo rubbing, and sounds that disappear if people are not aware of it, such as heartbeat and breathing, and depicts memories and traces of existence left by those sounds.ArtSticker mainly presents works centered on “PARALLAX” and “TRACE.”It was announced in Taiwan in “NOISE.”-Series-PARALLAXA painting series where colors visible from sound overlap with scenes evoked by sound. For Hamada, it is also a feeling that appears as color and form.Using the color sensed from the sound as a starting point, the moment when the sound and scene overlap is captured on the screen while valuing the natural mixing of colors created by the movement of paint and water, gravity, and surface tension. It depicts “differences” that change even in the same work or scene.TRACEA series depicting human voices, traces left by presence, and reverberation. In recent years, he has also looked at views of life and death born from his own experiences, and has expressed life and existence through the sense of sound.NOISEUsing “something that girl planned to fall in love with” as a motif, the process by which familiar sounds disappear is expressed mainly in three-dimensional works. Using rare shell ash, which is also used to protect cultural properties, it depicts the time between existence and disappearance by layering a line of vermilion on the modeling based on white.-About expressions-In Hamada's works, the motifs are not explained too clearly, and they don't completely make you lose sight of them. While stacking dozens, and sometimes around 200, of croquettes, they are searching for the minimum necessary lines where viewers can interact with their own experiences and minds. The interpretation of the work is not limited to one, and the fact that different ways of receiving it are created depending on the viewer is captured as the depth of the work.I would be happy if Hamada's thoughts were conveyed even a little bit in it.The goal is to create works that convey the thoughts Hamada felt in that ambiguity, even a little bit. Also, he is influenced by the ancient Japanese view of color and spiritual culture, and he is particularly strongly attracted to vermilion. The vermilion color, which has been used for amulets and prayers since ancient times, has been re-captured with a modern sense and incorporated into the work as a fluorescent vermilion.Dragon characters are included in the base of the work, and by entrusting prayers to the letters, it contains a meaning that goes beyond the act of decorating the work.Colors, motifs, lines, and characters sensed from sound. While layering each layer of dragon characters, matiels, colors, etc., they are put together into a single work.
