Work Details
Concept and production intention of the work
Machiyama Kotaro's abstract paintings have a quiet yet powerful dialogue with the viewer.
Just as a baby captures the world — a flat, vivid visual experience freed from meaning — his work excludes depth and story, and focuses purely on color and shape.
This work was created in collaboration with the premium sake “KISAKI (KISAKI)” series from the brewery “Yoshinotomo Brewery” in Toyama.
The motifs are inspired by the Toyama landscape and are used on the “After Black 28” edition label and packaging.
Each work evokes the viewer's unique memories, emotions, and imagination, and is like a mirror reflecting personal experiences rather than just artwork.
Based on post-color field abstraction and sensory exploration, Machiyama's art combines visual freshness and emotional depth, inviting people to rediscover the world with unfiltered eyes.
By brightly coloring the space and making you feel the harmony within the chaos, it brings a pleasant and uplifting atmosphere to your space.
