Work Details
This series of works is painting based on photographs of roadside flowers and plants and disassembling and reconstructing those images on a computer. By decomposing a photograph into a flat color surface, the image loses its role in shaping and changes to a parallel entity. Furthermore, by erasing shapes and connecting separate parts, a new world is born. I believe that the finished image will leave a slight impression of the original plant while giving a different impression depending on the viewer's memory, visual experience, and viewing environment.
The reason I chose flowers as a motif is that in addition to being attracted to their diverse forms and colors, I also want to reinterpret and update the traditional theme of flower painting, which has been drawn since ancient times, both east and west, as contemporary art.
This work is based on the motif of an iris flower blooming in the neighborhood.
