Canna 500-500-1-4

This work is part of a series of paintings drawn through the process of taking photographs of flowers and plants found in everyday life and then decomposing and reconstructing those images on a computer. A picture of a canna flower is used here.

It is a common motif called “flower” and “plant” that has been drawn for a long time regardless of east or west, and I am trying to express new possibilities by reconstructing the various forms and colors contained therein.

First, by decomposing a photograph into a flat color surface, the elements that formed the original image lose their role as structures and change to parallel entities.

In this process, by erasing shapes and connecting different parts, elements that originally existed in different places are connected, and a new visual space is created.

In the completed abstract screen, I aim to comfortably stimulate the viewer by intersecting the relationship between the easily reversed figure and the ground and the atmosphere of the original plant.
