作品名：アマビエ菩薩サマ

技法：ペンナイフ一本による彫刻
昨今話題となっている熊本の妖怪アマビエを自分なりの解釈で形にしました。「私は海中に住むアマビエと申す者なり。当年より6ヶ年の間は諸国で豊作が続くが疫病も流行する。私の姿を描いた絵を人々に早々に見せよ。」とアマビエは語ったとされています。アマビエは予言のみならず疫病を防ぐ能力を持ち合わせていたことが一般の人魚の予言と大きく異なり、妖怪というよりは神に近い存在ともいわれていることから、アマビエに菩薩のイメージを重ね合わせて彫刻しました。一日も早い終息と、皆の健康の願いが届きますように。

Born in 1975 in Kyoto. Currently reside in Yame, Fukuoka. I work as an artisan for an important intangible cultural property of the country. Although I am mainly a traditional craftsman,my goal is to be in a world of art. I work as a sculptor, karakurist, dyer, and artist, and also restores arts and crafts and cultural properties by making full use of techniques such as maki-e, spiraling, and inlay. I have also received many awards overseas as a professional photographer.
