I am exploring the “ambiguity” and “misalignment” inherent in my identity through media such as printmaking and photography.

I grew up in Japan as a third-generation Japanese, and the feeling I was nurtured by overlapping cultures and languages was always accompanied by a sense of incongruity with my surroundings.
Printmaking, which includes processes such as corrosion and transfer, creates “misalignment” that does not go the way you want.
That sense of coincidence and ambiguity resonates with the uncertainty of boundaries that I myself have felt.
Even in photos, if you dare to add filters and noise, the image will be blurry and the meaning will not be uniform.
It is in this uncertainty that overlooked contours and multi-layered possibilities emerge.

For me, production is also the act of looking at myself from a distance.
By keeping a distance from things, things you couldn't see come to light.
Scenery that can only be seen because the focus is not determined, and the feeling that stands out only because it cannot be clearly defined.
Scooping them up and putting them into shape is at the root of my expression.
