Work Details

This is a work in which the words MIRACLES emerge three-dimensionally in the center while cutting paper with words printed on it with blue holographic foil and then folding and pasting line by line.

The four words EMOTIONS (emotion), THOUGHTS (thoughts), WORDS (words), and ACTIONS (action) are connected by arrows in various directions, and the answers beyond that are two different words: SAME AS YESTERDAY (same as yesterday) and MIRACLES (miracle).

It expresses the message that when you want to achieve something, all four of your emotions, thoughts, words, and actions need to face the same direction, and when it doesn't come true as expected, something always faces the opposite direction, and that miracles can happen when all directions are right.

I learned that in the teachings of esoteric Buddhism (Buddhism), there is a phrase “to prepare one's body and mouth”, which indicates that if you match what you do, say, and think, you can make your wishes come true, and was inspired by that meaning and created it.

The title “Match The Direction” means align your direction.

Born 1980, Shizuoka, Japan. Graduated from Tokyo Asagaya Art College, School of Image Creation in 2007. Started her career in London in 2011 and has exhibited at numerous art fairs and exhibitions in the UK, Tokyo, and the Netherlands. She mainly produces paintings and semi-three-dimensional works based on ‘words/text’. She returned to Japan in 2023 and is currently based in Shizuoka. It is said that humans think about 50,000 thoughts every day, 90% of which are the same as yesterday. Is the world we see through the endlessly repeated thoughts of the unconscious really the truth or reality? With this question as its theme, the work poses a message to the self-perception and manifest consciousness of those who confront it. 1980    Born in Shizuoka,  Japan 2001    Study abroad in L.A for 2 years 2007 Graduated from Tokyo Asagaya Art College, School of Image Creation 2011    Moved to London and started a career as an artist 2013 Back to Japan and held a first solo show in Tokyo 2016 Moved to the Netherlands 2023 Back to Japan, live and work in Shizuoka [Award/Prize]
