Work Details
This work was created using the stencil technique of making a waterproof mold with cut out letters and numbers, and drawing words one letter at a time with acrylic paint on canvas while using that mold.
The work depicts the words “it's stupid to live every day like the last day of your life” in English and the numbers 27010 days for a 10-year-old, 23360 days for a 20-year-old, and 19710 days for a 30-year-old until the age of 80. This number shows how many days are left for each age when the average life expectancy (about 84 years) of Japanese people is considered a lifetime.
The language side expresses the mentality of people who tend to take it for granted that tomorrow comes forever, and the numbers express the lives of people who are surprisingly short and don't have as huge a number of days as expected, and the content contrasts between words and numbers.
It is a work that dares to visualize the number of days remaining and asks how to spend one day at a time when one becomes aware of the days that are not infinite.
The title Transients (Transients) means temporary visitors, short-term residents.

Started her career in London in 2011 and has exhibited at numerous art fairs and exhibitions in the UK, Tokyo, and the Netherlands. It is said that humans think about 50,000 thoughts every day, 90% of which are the same as yesterday. Is the world we see through the endlessly repeated thoughts of the unconscious really the truth or reality? With this question as its theme, the work poses a message to the self-perception and manifest consciousness of those who confront it. 1980 Born in Shizuoka, Japan 2001 Study abroad in L.A for 2 years 2007 Graduated from Tokyo Asagaya Art College, School of Image Creation 2011 Moved to London and started a career as an artist 2013 Back to Japan and held a first solo show in Tokyo 2016 Moved to the Netherlands 2023 Back to Japan, live and work in Shizuoka [Award/Prize] 2019 Long listed for Aesthetica Art Prize, Three-Dimensional Design & Sculpture in UK 2014.
