Work Details
Sometimes, arched mirrors are seen in train station toilets. If flowers etc. are displayed there, it may look like an altar. I feel that the arch shape you see in church stained glass etc. is a special shape that protects what is inside, and the flower reflected in such a shaped mirror looks as if it is protected by something. A sacred image that suddenly appears in everyday life. It depicts this small and beautiful scene, like faith rooted in daily life, as a new religious painting.

I draw pictures so as to preserve scenes and memories I don't want to forget about the lovely things I've met in my life and leave them as treasures. The arched mirrors lining the toilet looked like an altar. It is a vacant lot in the neighborhood where yellow flowers continue to bloom. These are white, star-like flowers I saw on a spring night. We may all forget it someday, but those lovely things certainly existed at that time. I keep making promises to them that I won't forget.
