Born in 1991 in Saitama, he lives and works in Tokyo. I mainly explore the minute signs and vibrations of life that appear in the relationships between the body, nature, and perception through acrylic paintings. The flower motif that appears in the work is not a specific plant, but rather a trace of life that appears as a “flower as a wave of existence.” While going back and forth between physical strokes and quiet adjustments, we are constructing a screen where conflicting elements such as order and chaos, silence and intensity coexist. In recent years, processes of destruction and reconstruction using Japanese paper have also been incorporated, and the state of life that repeats changes and cycles is being explored from both material and perception. Hitomi listens closely to the minute perceptions and signs that appear in relationships with nature and people, and depicts the “feeling of life” that cannot be captured in words as a painting. The starting point of production is time spent facing inner conflicts and questions about existence for a long time. From an early age, I deepened my interest in senses and perceptions that exist before words as I continue to explore myself through relationships and dialogue with people. Face-to-face dialogue was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and painting production began in earnest as a means of exploring perception and presence that cannot be handled with words alone. Production mainly using acrylic progresses in a process that goes back and forth between releasing energy due to physical strokes and making quiet adjustments to scoop up minute changes. Opposing elements such as reason and sensibility, order and chaos, and light and shadow appear on the screen not as confrontations, but as states where they exist and resonate at the same time. The flower motifs that appear in the work do not depict specific plants. They can also be called “flowers as waves of existence,” and the vibrations of life appear momentarily as traces that take shape. Sometimes they are guided consciously, and at other times they naturally emerge from the flow of body movements and senses. Depending on the series, the fluctuations and inhomogeneities of Japanese paper materials are incorporated as supports, and processes such as breaking, unraveling, and reconstructing are carried out. There, traces of time, memory, and breathing remain in matter, and the state of life that repeats changes and cycles appears as a phenomenon on the screen. In Hitomi's work, subtlety and boldness, serenity and heat exist simultaneously. Multiple senses and states of existence coexist within the screen, leaving open spaces for new relationships and senses to emerge within each viewer's perception.
