Work Details

This work encapsulates a cityscape in a broken light bulb and lights the light again. By layering disused light devices and picture postcards as memory playback devices, we create a place where relationships between different times and places intersect. It is an attempt to launch memories and senses through light that become invisible due to changes in technology.

My production begins with physical research called “walking.” Put yourself in a place and go back and forth between intuition and observation, theory and practice while meeting materials and environments. That movement and chance encounter is the starting point of production. “Walking” is not just movement; it is a series of physical time involving perception and recording, and it is also a process of constantly re-capturing relationships with the surroundings while responding to events and traces contained in space.
