Wildflowers

1978年 神奈川県生まれ 2006年 東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科修士課程絵画科木版専攻修了 私の制作はドローイングから始まりそこから出来た形を木に転写し鋸で色々な形に切る。形は少し厚みがあり物質的になる。転写しているので反対側はドローイングした形になり両面に形ができる。それを彫刻刀で彫っていく、私にとって彫ることは手で触りながら形を確かめるような触覚的な要素が大きい。そしてそれを紙に摺るとその形はまた反転する。私は摺ることによって生まれる複数性の差異に興味がある。それらは見えない物の存在が微かに紙に残っている事があるからである。 To create my works, I first draw and then transfer the resultant shapes onto wood before using a saw to cut the wood into various shapes. These shapes are somewhat thick and physical. Because of the transfer process, the opposite side of the wood comes out like my drawing, and I can shape both sides. I carve using a chisel, and the tactile aspect of checking the shapes with my own hands is crucial. I invert the shapes again when printing on paper. I’m interested in all the different variations I can create depending on my printing approach, as these works on paper offer a subtle glimpse into things that exist unseen.
