色気のある艶姿の女性に目を引き寄せられがちですが、この作品の着眼点は「着物」です。着物の色合いで最も難しいとされる「黑」を中心に柄模様の桜や梅のピンク系の淡い色がより一層の黒色を引き出させております。そして女性の手に持つ一輪の花もまた然り。絵の中心にあることでより綺麗に見せております。
