"Drawings based on 'Rhythm on a Chopping Board'"
This drawing was created whilst working on 'Rhythm on a Chopping Board', based on footage I took of my mother cutting meat and still images extracted from it.
The key concept of this exhibition, 'Inside and Outside', refers primarily to spatial considerations: spaces visible from the outside, and spaces that, whilst not entirely enclosed, cannot be seen unless one enters them. For this exhibition, I am displaying the main artwork in the inner space, whilst exhibiting the drawings created for this work in the space visible from the outside. As the drawings on display serve as hints and ideas for the main artwork, I feel they rarely take precedence over the artwork itself. Therefore, by exhibiting the drawings in a location visible from the outside and placing the main artwork in a position that cannot be fully seen without entering the inner space, I aim to explore the effect this has on the viewer.

Artist
Taking as her motifs everyday objects in modern life and the movements and trajectories of actions associated with them, she creates works using a multifaceted approach that includes three-dimensional wooden sculptures, photography and drawing. Drawing on formal methods of abstraction established in art history, she explores the fusion of existing forms with geometric shapes. She focuses on the ‘subtle fluctuations’ found in everyday life, developing them into new interpretations and insights.
