Work Details

Concept and Intention of the Artwork

Fragments of candles offered at Parisian churches are collected and layered alternately with oil paintings to make up the screen.

Behind it, accumulation of time that cannot be seen from the surface quietly lurks. The image of Hakuba, whom I met by chance in the mountains of France, and what it used to be during the mural painting period. Layers carved out in three dimensions and four-dimensional time rise up in a two-dimensional space that combines both the finiteness, which changes the image when heated, and the permanence of classical techniques.

I want you to enjoy this work while watching the match lights in the dark.
