“To each other/ to that thing without”
The works organized as installations in this exhibition are works that have been continuously created in Wajima City on the Noto Peninsula since 2024.
Currently, based in Wajima City, I am working on works that focus on objects in the daily lives of disaster victims collected from houses and meeting places to be demolished, and “memories of loss” that disaster victims have through interviews.
What came to mind when facing this exhibition was the “appearance of disaster victims who live in Wajima City talking about lost time and existence.” I felt that the reconstruction of the cityscape and people's activities was nothing but gaze and prayer directed at lost close people and landscapes. Also, in contrast to that, while being able to spend every day as a matter of course, it makes me notice that the absurd events that occurred in Noto over time gradually and surely diverged from the feeling that they were “somehow being reconstructed.”
The title “To That Thing Without Me” is structured as an installation to experience the heartache and love of the disaster victims for their “now deceased existence” from that group of works.
What is the form of “connection” that should exist between disaster victims and us? In a space where the sense of loss we each have resonates, we continue to question the introspective confrontation with “loss,” which becomes obsolete over time.

They collect furniture and clothes that have been worn out by people, and patterns of the owner's skin and create installations under the theme of “their own style.” We are creating a space where we confront “loss” in a space where memories “our days up until now” come to light, and make us think about, and confront “loss.”
