夜
人の出会いには
そんなに多くの
色はいらない
縁もゆかりもなかった福岡に訪れた時のこと
ふらっと入った居酒屋でそのお店のオーナーとその日のうちに仲良くなった
そのオーナーと出会って当日の営業後、朝まで４軒はしごした
次の日に営業後、飲みに行く約束をしてオーナーが連れてきたフラワーアーティストと出会った
気づいたら出会って間もない人間と縁もゆかりもない土地でコラボ個展をすることが決まった
これは合わさらなかったはずにピースが夜の福岡を通して偶然にも重なったことによって生まれた奇特な出会い
数日の記憶と感情しか共有していない人間同士の出会いと向き合って作品を制作しました。
2019年9月、縁もゆかりもなかったその土地は僕の帰ってくる場所になりました

MANABU KISHIMOTO seeks to depict the very essence of human “existence” by scraping away layers of paint.
His work applies the traditional Japanese technique of “grinding out,” using water to grind away layers of acrylic paint applied over and over. This reveals traces of complexly overlapping colors beneath the scraped surface.
Through this act of “scraping,” he attempts to strip away boundaries drawn by society and attributes imposed later, revealing the pure essence of human existence—the simple fact of being.
