Work Details
This is a scene from Spiritual Songs of Children, Sumito Sakakibara’s new animated film currently in production.
A moon bear has wandered into a yellow room through an open door and is eating acorns from a desk.
Outside the door, other bear appears as well.
A man sits on the couch, concentrating on his cellphone—perhaps unaware of the bear’s presence.
A woman stands at the window, and the scene presents a distinctly surreal atmosphere.

1980年北海道・十勝生まれ。
1996年、単身渡英。文化庁海外派遣生を経て2004年RCA（英国王立芸術大学院）
アニメーション科博士課程修了。2006年文化庁メディア芸術祭アニメーション部門大賞受賞。
英国アカデミー賞短編アニメーション部門・ノミネート。国際漫画アニメフェスティバルグランプリ受賞。
2021年「飯縄縁日」が長野県立美術館常設展示に収蔵。2022年同作オタワ国際アニメーション映画祭で最優秀ノンナラティブ賞受賞。Weird Market映画祭最優秀賞受賞。
国立新美術館、清須市はるひ美術館、名古屋芸術大学アート＆デザインセンター、長野県立美術館、おぶせミュージアム,大阪万博関連事業 中之島パビリオンオンフェスティバル棟、国内外で映像祭、美術館での展示、上映多数。2026年9月には、カナダ・オタワ国際アニメーション映画祭に特集上映予定。
