Sompo Museum of Art Face Exhibition 2024 Selected Works (2024.2.17-3.10)

It is one of a group of works that have explored new methods to express a group image or universe (or repose of souls) where each individual fits together. This work is an intermediate technique between painting and photography.

A universe (or repose of souls) where diverse people, lives, and minds live, or

Diversity is the fundamental principle of life evolution.

Or, I want art and culture to be something that many people can enjoy, not for some privileges.

This is a work in which ink, acrylic, pencils, etc. are drawn on top of an object UV printed on canvas with high exposure, taken as a photograph, and drawn on top of an object that has been UV printed on canvas. (Painting materials: canvas and paper works using oil, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, crayons, etc.)

The reason I chose the title “CHUUSHOUGA” is because challenging new possibilities for abstract painting expression is one of my challenges, and I want viewers to cherish something of each feeling by avoiding preconceptions about the work by not having actual form/content in the title. It's about what kind of pictures that person likes or dislikes, what they feel or don't feel anything, I think pictures are both my mirror and the viewer's mirror, and I think it's an important journey to get to know the depths of myself.
