The Still Life Painting of Flying Fruits

How does language influence the way humans view things intuitively? The human eye always applies some kind of definition to the original “reality,” and isn't it possible to organize and recognize vision based on this? Based on this idea, I created a group of works in this series where words and sentences are directly written on the screen, using the squares of manuscript paper and the borders of memo paper as symbols of the “framework” called language. This is an attempt to precipitate the feeling that the moment a small word or sentence attached to an abstract motif catches your eye, the motif becomes figurative and takes on an outline. Even though they are inherently amorphous entities that are difficult to express in language, it is difficult to avoid using language when they are commonly recognized in human society. However, at the moment when some kind of definition is applied to any entity depending on language, it is easy to neglect the judgment of whether the definition is correct for that existence, and rather, a sense of trying to look closely at the definition may naturally arise. Production of this series continues while deepening discussions on coexistence with the strong dominant power of language.
