In 1997, he began his career as an artist in Europe, targeting “ordinary people who aren’t usually interested in art” as his audience and adopting a style that moves away from the confines of the art world—such as museums and galleries—to install works outdoors.

He views “the expansion of human imagination” as the raison d’être of art and creates his works using “laughter, violence, and sexiness” as his tools.

In 2018, he received the 68th Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for the Arts, and in 2013, the Nissan Art Award 2013 Jury Special
Prize. In 2011, he won the Grand Prize in the “Relax & Consume” category of The Great Indoors Award 2011,
sponsored by Frame Magazine.
