この顔に穴をあけるモチーフ、実は私のアーティスト活動の初期の頃から取り扱っているのですが

そのイマジネーションの元がイマイチ思い出せなくて、多分イギリスのパンクバンド”セックスピストルズ”のLP版「God save the Queen」のジャケット写真がそのルーツだったと思うんですけども。

もしくは私が小さい時、日本では心霊写真ブームで80年代に起こったのだけど、

人の顔に黒い棒線で目を隠し特定されないようにした写真からだったような気もするのですが。

そういった自分の中に残っている記憶がこのモチーフを生み出しているのは確かだと思います。

ちなみにこの作品はその穴の部分にミラーフィルムを入れて鑑賞者の顔が作品の中に入り込む構造にしてみました。

昔のプロマイドにあたる浮世絵に今の人間が同化すること。

そこから生まれる今と昔の違い、日本再発見のキッカケを願って生まれたのがこの作品となります。

I’ve been using this motif of piercing the face since the early times of my artist work but I can’t remember the origin of this imagination.

Maybe it was the cover of the LP “God save the Queen” by the Sex Pistols.

Or maybe it was the effect of ghost photo boom in 80s that used picture of people’s face hidden with black line.

I’m certain that such factors remaining inside me created this motif.

By the way, for this artwork, I put mirror film inside the hole so that viewer’s face will become the part of the artwork.

A person of this period assimilates with the Ukiyoe which was the Bromide of that time.

The difference of now and the past. This is the artwork born from my wish to rediscover Japan.
