Artist
Lance Kerr
Born 1975 . Based in Westport, New Zealand. Kerr studied “Visual Communication Design” at Ara Institute Christchurch NZ, graduating in 1998. His work deals with ideas that reconsiders abstraction,referencing urban environments and liminal spaces working with fluid acrylics on canvas or paper. He is an internationally recognized contemporary painter. In 2021 was “Art Edit” magazine (based out of Sydney) artist of the week. In 2024 , a “Circle Arts Foundation” finalist in an international Art award. He is interested in using art as a medium to explore East-West dialogue, looking at the resonances between eastern philosophy and postmodern deconstruction. Born 1975 . Based in Westport, New Zealand. Kerr studied “Visual Communication Design” at Ara Institute Christchurch NZ, graduating in 1998, before studing Art theory and Japanese literature at Canturbury University. In 2019 he made his first trip to Japan. He is a qualified Qigong teacher, and is interested in how the ancient somatic practice enhances his creativity. He is now based in Westport New Zealand,where he is an award winning pastry chef, married to Hiroe, who is originaly from Japan.
