In this series of mixed media drawings I wanted to explore the energy of urban environments, invoking the energy of cities through Graffiti inspired automatic gestural writing and spontaneous mark making.

Lance Kerr

Lance Kerr

Born 1975 . Based in Westport, New Zealand.
Kerr studied “Visual Communication Design” at Ara Institute Christchurch NZ, graduating in 1998.
His work deals with ideas that reconsiders abstraction,referencing urban environments and liminal spaces working with fluid acrylics on canvas or paper.
He is an internationally recognized contemporary painter.
In 2021 was “Art Edit” magazine (based out of Sydney) artist of the week.
In 2024 ,
a “Circle Arts Foundation” finalist in an international Art award.
He is interested in using art as a medium to explore East-West dialogue, looking at the resonances between eastern philosophy and postmodern deconstruction.
