Thank you for giving birth (I'm happy)

This work was drawn during the solo exhibition (flower exhibition 5/8-5/12) held at Haku Kyoto to coincide with Mother's Day.

A solo exhibition will be held on Mother's Day. I'm sending flowers to my mother.

A work that makes not only myself, but also people who come to see the solo exhibition remember their memories with their mother and their gratitude to their mother...

What kind of work should I draw?

What memories do you have with your mother and what would you like to tell your mother? I was thinking about it.

When I was in elementary school, I was taught calligraphy by force. (I didn't want to go even 1 mm) The calligraphy experience made me interested in the world of art, and I fell in love with drawing pictures. It's connected to that, isn't it?

After all, what I wanted to say to my mother as I received my birth from my mother and headed towards death was “thank you for giving birth.”

I can say that because I'm happy.

I'm too blessed with the people around me. There are things I like, and I'm doing what I love.

However, I will die someday.

It's scattering towards death. It's ephemeral, but the good memories are warmly wrapped around me.

Those good memories and experiences were created when my mother gave birth to me, and I project my gratitude to my mother for giving me life onto the flowers.

Production secrets

The kanji Ryota signature was written with bad luck in rough Japanese brush from 100 yen.

The reason is that I've never been able to write the last name I write in calligraphy well (it was impossible for me at the time to handle a small brush lol), so rather than writing well, I wrote it poorly while remembering those days.

I burst out laughing alone after I finished writing.
