The official catalog for Motoi Yamamoto’s solo exhibition “Staying in Time,” held at YUKIKOMIZUTANI from April 1 to May 6, 2023, is now available.
In “Staying in Time,” Motoi Yamamoto exhibited a series of diary-like paintings that depicted the changing of the seasons, using “time” and “season” as clues.
This catalogue features exhibition views photographed by the artist himself, along with commentary on the works by Hajime Naruso (Chief Curator, The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo). It also introduces the works produced and exhibited between 2021 and 2023.

Using salt as his material, Yamamoto has long created installation works in which he draws huge patterns on the floor. At the end of these exhibitions, he destroys the work with the viewers, and the project is concluded by returning the salt to the sea.
