How long can a person remember things with no form? Time spent with close friends, the experience of seeing something and feeling moved, the compelling emotions. Can a memory even be indefinite? These formless things exist in the moment, and gradually lose their outline disappearing along with the passage of time. The way a person’s habitual actions or habits affect and change things over time; to draw a line on a copper plate with a needle to corrode it. Both have time in common appearing as a trace. By projecting the process of creation and elimination onto the production of copperplate prints, I give form to the formless through drawing lines.

They may be the undergrowth in the depths of a forest, or the slime moulds hiding even further inside, or maybe they are details of from ancient pterosaurs. The details of Yoshiura’s copperplate etching drawn by needles, spread out infinitely at times, and form outlines at others. Either way everything is a part of infinity, and seems to be an act of endlessly copying the traces of life, of herself and others. Layers and layers of “marks” are captured in her artwork.
