Painter, Illustrator
1966 Born in Tokyo
1988 Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Craft and Industrial Working primarily in oil painting and risograph printmaking, I exhibit my work through solo exhibitions and art fairs alongside my commercial client work as an illustrator.
Grounded in my memories of growing up in suburban Tokyo during Japan’s rapid economic growth, I explore the light and shadow of American culture that deeply influenced me at the time―framing it from the vantage point of Japan as "American Nostalgia," an intangible phantom of an idealized world. Beneath seemingly tranquil everyday scenes, I embed an unnamed sense of unease. Through the coexistence of visually pleasing colors and motifs with an underlying texture of uncertainty, my work draws out the gritty emotional residue lingering beneath a serene silence.
