Work Details
仏像で印象的な手の形、印相をモチーフに「自己責任」という言葉に苦しむ人々を救いたいが、自己責任の暗示の為に、頼ってもらえない阿弥陀如来が拗ねているところを描きました。
「他力本願」と言う言葉ははもっぱら他人の力をあてにする、他人まかせという意味で、現在よく使われる言葉ですが、本来の意味は他力とは如来の本願力のことで、他人の力ではなく、仏の力、阿弥陀仏の慈悲のはたらきのことです。昨今、自己責任という言葉によって、他人の手も借りず八方塞がりで苦しむ人々が多く、本来大切にされてきた人とのつながりが気薄になり、色々なものが途絶えて消えていく状況です。自分が苦しい時自分で解決できる人はなかなかいません。誰かの助言や助けによって救われることが大いにあります。一人で生きていける時代だけれども、独りは苦しいものです。他力本願でも何かに縋れるなら頼っていいと、少しでも楽に生きていきたいと思う気持ちに素直になって助け合いたいものです。

By depicting the world of “Horai,” “Togenkyo,” and “Utopia” in our imagination, I want you to enter a world where there is no suffering even just for your mind, and spend a healthy time. Please enjoy Horai as a utopia where beautiful scenery, gods, and hermits live.
