Artist

Takaaki Kato
✔︎

His work explores the themes of time, projection, and memory, striving to redefine the canvas as a 'cinematic painting'. Born in Tokyo in 1985, the artist spent his early childhood in Düsseldorf, Germany. After graduating from Azabu High School, he earned a degree from the Department of Design at Tama Art University's Faculty of Art and Design. He joined the creative group Enlightenment in 2012 and later Chikabi in 2020 before establishing his independent practice. His work focuses on themes of time, projection, and memory, striving to create "cinematic paintings" that bridge the gap between static imagery and moving visuals.
