Maruyama Akiko

abstract painter

Born in downtown Tokyo, lives in YokohamaWorked as a graphic designer after graduating from Joshibi Junior College of Art and DesignProduction will begin in 2020Made with acrylic paint, pigment ink, and resin on solid wood or wood panels Based on the concept of natural rhythm and harmony, and “the power to live and reproduce,” I create works with a sense of depth by layering fluid color fluctuations and delicate motifs. I'm searching for expressions of choice and chance, and I'm exploring expressions using my own techniques and rhythms. One of the origins of the production was that while human activity stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plants grew powerfully and were guided by DNA. It depicts the beauty and cycle of life, and aims to be close to each viewer's memories and feelings through the work, and evoke stories within their hearts.
