Work Details

“La Pomme d'Eve”

H8 x W8.5 x D9 cm

clear acrylic, 3D scan, 3D print

2022

These are apples that were 3D scanned before I ate and apples after eating, synthesized on data, and 3D output with clear acrylic. Only the core part is hollow, and only what I ate is an amount that can be seen in reality as a sculpture. When I had my first solo exhibition, I was wondering what “the beginning of making a shape” would be. At that time, rather than making shapes with my hands, I thought that eating things with my mouth or getting stuck in my teeth would be the first thing, so I ate apples, and gradually replaced them with gypsum statues as they decreased. After that, I thought about how to make that work exist as a single sculpture, and it became a work where traces of my meal, that is, the shape formation, can be seen from inside the transparent apple on clear acrylic.
