Costa Nova Striped Town
campus, brush pen, acrylic
An early work of 2021.
This work is a reinterpretation of the striped house that remains in the Portuguese fishing town of Costa Nova, not simply as a landscape, but as a “symbol of the relationship between people and the sea.”
The time the fishermen lived with the sea is accumulated in the colors and lines of the houses, and it goes beyond architecture and stands up as a “trace of life.” I see those stripes as rhythms where past memories intersect with current breathing.
The blue, yellow, red, and black stripes symbolize the power of nature, human activity, and the dialogue between light and shadow.
When they line up, the city appears as a “structure of existence” rather than a landscape, and questions the viewer's distance from the world.
Through this work, I want to present the feeling of diving into a sea of colors and lines.
It's an experience where you go beyond understanding and explanation, and redraw your own outline by simply putting yourself in that place.
The Costa Nova stripes are for me a “gateway to feeling the world again.”

Ultramodern Artist
In 2018, she encountered henna art while volunteering at an Indian cultural event held in Japan. Tintricate patterns drawn on arms and hands captivated her, and tracing them with a brush pen led to the emergence of her signature style—delicate yet bold lines. This marked the beginning of her artistic journey, which formally began in 2019.
Without formal art education, she developed a free-spirited approach, exhibiting works both domestically and internationally. In 2021, she received the Hermès International Grand Prize and a national art award. Her 1st solo exhibition was held in 2022, followed by a major show at Daimaru Tenjin in 2024.
In 2025, she presented her first installation themed “Borderless Without travel,” inviting viewers to experience invisible crossings through spatial composition.
