Mariko Ogawa

Painter,Artist

Affiliated Gallery

Born in Kumamoto Prefecture, currently based in Ōiso, Kanagawa.
In 2014, she completed her Master’s degree in Painting in the Graduate School of Art and Design at Kyoto University of the Arts (formerly Kyoto University of Art and Design).
That same year, she held her first solo exhibition “weight of the form” at Ginza Surugadai Gallery in Tokyo. Since then, she has continued to present her paintings in solo exhibitions and art fairs both in Japan and abroad.

Her works draw inspiration from the sensory experiences she encounters while walking in nature — the scent of wind and rain, the shimmer of light, and the resonance of sound.
As she wanders through forests and gardens, or when she picks up her brush, she feels the boundary between herself and her surroundings begin to blur.
Her paintings emerge as organic, abstract images that evoke the landscapes and atmospheres she perceives and relives through these moments.
