1973年東京生まれ。現在は東京を拠点に活動。 Born 1973 in Tokyo. Lives and works in Tokyo. ロンドン・ゴールドスミスカレッジのテキスタイル学科を1998年に卒業、2001年にシカゴ美術館附属美術大学で美術学修士号を取得。 工業用ミシンを用い、近代化以降、変容し続ける人間性や労働の価値を問い続けながら、刺繍というメディアの枠を拡張させる作品を数々発表している。 BA in textiles from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 1998; MFA in fiber and material study from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. Employing industrial-use sewing machines, Aoyama presents numerous works which expand the frame of the embroidery medium, by questioning the values inherent in humanity and labour within the continuing changes effected by modernization.

What is Sticker?
「お金がなくてもアイデアと情熱があれば作品はつくれる」
確かにそうなのですが、お金は時に作品を次のレベルに導いてくれるように思うのです。まだまだ使ってみたい高いマテリアルはあるし、まだまだプロダクションも大きくしたい。作品に繋がるリサーチももっと足を使って行いたい。つまりもっと旅がしたい。あとなかなか手が出ない高額書籍なんかも迷うことなく買いたいです。なんか欲望を書き連ねてすみません。でも自分自身を更新できなくなったら作家として終わりだと思うのです。無駄遣いはしません。支援してくれる皆さまには、厳しい目で見守っていただければと思います。下手な政治家の演説みたいですね。よろしくお願いします！
